"Ugh, I dont neeeeeeedddd ppppsssssrrrrr!!!"

Raise your hand if you've ever heard that line before? *raises hand*
PSR, is meant to be short term. It's meant to teach skills, skills our clients can and will utilize on their own. This can be hard for clients who don't see the areas they need improvement in. We have to remember we are working with kids (who only have one reality, their reality) and some of you work with adults (it can be extremely hard to get an adult to be self reflective).

Katie and I were brainstorming and she came up with this awesome visual to use with my client (Thanks Katie!)
We took a piece of construction paper and folded it in half. Then (as you can see) I cut a piece of yarn to fit the length of the page.
Next my client and I brainstormed behaviors that brought her into PSR or ones she is currently displaying. We wrote those on the left side of the page *Note: this is extremely hard for some clients and can be met with resistant. It's not meant to be mean, it's meant to have them be accountable and aware of what they are doing. I always remind them of this throughout the process and explain none of these traits make them a bad person, etc. I will even throw in things about me I need to work on*

Now, fill the other side with positive behaviors that will lead to graduation! *Another Note: My client had an incredibly hard time doing this. Me thinks 13 year old might think they know it all but, not quite : )

  1. I hear that a lot particularly from the odd kid I mentioned before. I should definitely do this with her
