I got this idea--well I don't know how---I just was driving one day and thought 'Hey! Parachutes would make a great visual!' (Any one else do this? Constantly think of activities for kiddos? : )
The concept for this activity is simple, and is similar to creating a 'toolbox' of skills for the client to be able to refer to. First, have them create a visual of a parachute with them attached (this is their parachute after all). 'Fill' their parachute with coping skills, life skills and people around them who help them 'fall gracefully and softly to the ground' (i.e. not have a massive tantrum!). Have them hang it some place where they can use it when they need a little reminder of the tools and skills they know.
