Five Senses

Use all five senses to help your client refocus and calm down.

An on-the-go coping skill that your client can use anywhere using only their five senses.  Easy to remember, and easy to practice!

Take your client for a walk, helping them focus on each sense individually, helping them learn a way to refocus, be mindful of themselves and their surroundings and calm down on their own.

Prompt them to talk about and understand a way to take a break from anything that is overstimulating, or making them frustrated my taking a mental break.

ALSO- while focusing on smell, in my experience it is a good way to help your client take some deep breaths- (bonus)!

Now practice practice practice using different environments!!!
